The Plot and New Cast The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games. The film welcomes several accomplished actors in important characters: Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee. Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
