It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
